Antje Kapek (born September 20, 1976 in Berlin-Kreuzberg ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and has chaired the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives since 2012 . Together with Silke Gebel, she has led the Green parliamentary group in the red-red-green government since December 2016. Before that, she was the top candidate of her party for the Berlin election on September 18, 2016 in a joint top team with Daniel Wesener , Bettina Jarasch and Ramona Pop .

Life

Kapek was born and raised in Berlin-Kreuzberg. After graduating from the Robert-Blum-Gymnasium in Berlin-Schöneberg, she studied geography with the minor subjects law, traffic planning and environmental management at the Free University of Berlin , the Technical University of Berlin and the Humboldt University of Berlin . Kapek then completed a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning in the Netherlands. She was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation . From 2007 to 2011 Antje Kapek was a research assistant for MEP Michael Cramer . Kapek is married with two children and lives with her family in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Kapek has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 2005. From 2006 to 2011 she was a member of the District Assembly (BVV) of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg . From 2008 she was chairman of the green district parliamentary group together with Daniel Wesener . Her focus was on urban development, environmental and transport policy.

On September 18, 2011, Kapek was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives. It moved into the state parliament via the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen (3rd place). In the 17th legislative period, Kapek was the spokesperson for urban development policy and, since November 2011, the deputy chairwoman of the Green Group in the House of Representatives. From October 30, 2012 she was chairman of the parliamentary group together with Ramona Pop .

In October 2015, Kapek, together with Bettina Jarasch , Ramona Pop and Daniel Wesener, was nominated as a member of the green top team for the House of Representatives election on September 18, 2016 at a state party conference. In April 2016 she was elected to number 2 on the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Berlin . She was also a direct candidate of her party in constituency 4 (Alt-Lichtenberg) in Berlin-Lichtenberg. After the parliamentary elections in 2016 , she was involved in the negotiation of the red-red-green coalition agreement as a member of the main negotiating group. In December 2016 she was re-elected as parliamentary group leader and has since held this office together with Silke Gebel .

Political positions

Kapek is seen as a representative of the left wing of the party in the Greens. She advocates transparent politics, citizen participation, the preservation of open spaces and social and cultural diversity. For example, she advocates petitions for citizens and advocates the integration of social rental apartments in new construction projects.
