Benjamin Raschke (born December 23, 1982 in Lübben (Spreewald) , Cottbus district , GDR ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Brandenburg party and has been a member of the Brandenburg state parliament since 2014 . In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 , he and Ursula Nonnemacher were the top candidate for the Greens . He has been parliamentary group leader since December 2019.

Career

Raschke attended the Paul-Gerhardt-Gymnasium in Lübben and passed the Abitur exams there in 2002.

From 2002 to 2007 he studied political science , philosophy and law at the University of Konstanz and the University of Warsaw . From 2007 to 2008 he was a climate campaigner at the Federal Association of the Greens . Until 2010 he worked as a mobility advisor at the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations .

Benjamin Raschke is the father of two children.

Benjamin Raschke has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2005. In 2006/2007 he was a member of the board of the Konstanz district association . From September 2008 to December 2019, Benjamin Raschke was community representative in Schönwald ( Dahme-Spreewald district ). For the 2009 Bundestag election he ran in constituency 63 and in second place on the Brandenburg state list of the Greens.

On November 14th, 2009 Benjamin Raschke was elected alongside Annalena Baerbock as one of two equal state chairmen of the alliance green state association of Brandenburg . In this office he was confirmed in 2011 and 2013 and resigned as state chairman when he moved in as a member of the state parliament in 2014.

From 2010 to 2012 Benjamin Raschke was a research assistant in the Bundestag faction BÜNDNIS 90 / DIE GRÜNEN for the environmental policy spokeswoman Dorothea Steiner and the deputy parliamentary group leader Bärbel Höhn ,

He ran for the 2014 state election in constituency 26 and on position 4 on the list, through which he entered the state parliament.

His work focuses on the environment, agriculture, animal welfare, rural areas and legal policy.

In a primary election by 61.6 percent of the participating members of the state association, Raschke was elected to second place in the list of the Greens for the state elections in Brandenburg 2019 and thus nominated as a top candidate together with Ursula Nonnemacher . He also ran in constituency 28 .

Trivia

In response to the public discussion about diets and parental leave, Raschke donated the difference between parental allowance and diets received to the Association of Freelance Midwives in Germany .
