Axel Vogel
Axel Vogel (* 3. June 1956 in Bochum ) is a German politician of the Greens . From 1985 to 1987 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 2009 to 2020 he was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament , where he was chairman of the green parliamentary group. He is Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg in the Woidke III cabinet .
Political activity until 1991
Axel Vogel was one of the founding members of the Greens in 1980 . He initially worked in the office of the Bavarian State Association before he became a research assistant in the first green parliamentary group in 1983. As a result of the two-year rotation carried out in this parliamentary group , he was a member of the Bundestag from 1985 to 1987. He moved into parliament via the Bavarian state list.
From 1987 onwards, Vogel initially worked for one year as an employee of the green parliamentary group in Bavaria. In 1988 he was elected federal treasurer of the Greens, where he succeeded Hermann Schulz , who had previously resigned like the entire federal board of the Greens due to irregularities in the redevelopment of the federal office. Vogel held the office of Federal Treasurer until 1991; Henry Selzer was his successor .
In addition to his political activities, Vogel studied economics at the Fernuniversität Hagen from 1980 to 1991 .
Active in Brandenburg since 1991
Axel Vogel has been working in Brandenburg since 1991. At the initiative of the then Environment Minister Matthias Platzeck , he was supposed to organize the designation of nature conservation areas and thus performed various functions in the Brandenburg State Agency for Large Protected Areas from 1992 to 2004. From 2004 he was head of the department for ecology, nature conservation and water in the state environmental agency .
From 2005 to 2009 Vogel was one of two equal board spokesmen for the Brandenburg state association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ; the co-speaker was Katrin Vohland from 2005 to 2007 and Ska Keller from 2007 to 2009 . On September 27, 2009 he was elected to the state parliament of Brandenburg via the state list of the Greens . There he was chairman of the green parliamentary group, deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee for budgetary control and a member of the committee for economics as well as the committee for budget and finance, the election review committee and the inquiry committee. In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , he again received a mandate on the state list of his party and was confirmed in the position of parliamentary group chairman. In January 2020, he resigned from his state parliament mandate. Ricarda Budke moved up for him .
Vogel lives in Eberswalde .
