Umbrella organization of the US vehicle clubs in Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The umbrella organization of the US vehicle clubs in Germany e. V. (DUS) was founded in 1994 by a group of collectors and drivers of American vehicles. The first YH and official founding meeting took place in 1995. The purpose is to represent the interests of vehicles that were produced in the United States and operated in Germany. All board and committee areas are run on a voluntary basis.

In 1996 the DUS joined DEUVET as the American umbrella organization . Since then, the DUS has been involved in drafting bills and specifically represents the interests of clubs and associations related to American classic cars and US vehicles.

In 2002 the DUS had 40 member clubs with a total of 750 members. As in DEUVET , only one club or IG could become a member until the end of 1998. Since there is no American club life at all in many areas of Germany, there has been the possibility of becoming an individual member since 1999. However, these "lone wolves" are looked after by clubs that are still within reasonable reach.

The association publishes its own newspaper, DUS-News, which contains political or technical articles relating to the classic car scene and US vehicles. 17 vehicle inspectors took part in the DEUVET seminar and can carry out vehicle inspections for DUS members in order to obtain the FIVA ID card or the DEUVET pass. The DUS has its own register of sources for American vehicles and issues data sheets to members that are also used by TÜV or Dekra agencies.
