history

The Brakel Office was established in 1843 as part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia . The city of Brakel initially remained vacant and only belonged to the office since 1938.

In 1864 the Abbenburg-Bökerhof estate was separated from the Bökendorf community. On October 1, 1928, the manor district was again incorporated into Bökendorf.

On the basis of area change agreements of August 8, 1968 and Section 3 of the “Law for the Reorganization of the District of Höxter” of December 2, 1969, which also confirms the area change agreements in Section 8, Paragraph 3, the municipalities of the office joined on January 1, 1970 new town of Brakel. The Brakel office was dissolved. The legal successor is the city of Brakel.
