Bobby Solo
Bobby Solo (born March 18, 1945 as Roberto Satti in Rome ) is an Italian rock 'n' roll musician and pop singer . He celebrated his greatest successes in the 1960s.
Career
The young Roberto Satti found his way to music under the influence of Elvis Presley . After moving to Milan with his family , he made the acquaintance of Franz Di Cioccio (later founding member of the Premiata Forneria Marconi ), with whom he appeared as a rock 'n' roll duo. In 1963 he got his first record deal with Dischi Ricordi and released his first singles under the pseudonym Bobby Solo. Finally, Gianni Ravera noticed him and invited him to participate in the Sanremo Festival in 1964 . There the musician presented Una lacrima sul viso together with Frankie Laine . Due to a sore throat he could the song in the final only in playback present, thus it could not be taken into account for the final score. Regardless, it was a huge hit and Bobby Solo's first number one hit. On this wave of success, the musician also began to release some German hits .
After further single successes and smaller film roles, Bobby Solo returned to Sanremo in 1965 and this time was able to secure first place with Se piangi, se ridi (together with the New Christy Minstrels ). This song also reached the top of the chart in Italy and was also successful in Germany as I see you cry . He also represented the host country Italy at the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest in Naples , where it came in fifth. More successful singles followed in both Italy and Germany. His Sanremo participation in 1966 with Questa volta (together with the Yardbirds ) and 1967 (together with Connie Francis ) with Canta ragazzina both ended before the final. In 1967, however, he achieved two hits with Non c'è più niente da fare through the television series Tutto Totò (with Totò ) and the cover San Francisco .
Together with Iva Zanicchi , Bobby Solo entered the Sanremo Festival again in 1969 . With Zingara he achieved the second victory in five years. The song also became his third number one hit. But soon after this success it became quiet about the singer; the Sanremo appearances in 1970 ( Romantico Blues , together with Gigliola Cinquetti ) and 1972 ( Rimpianto ) went largely unnoticed, in 1970 Bobby Solo had his last smaller hit in Germany with Eine kleine Abschiedsträne . It wasn't until 1978 that the singer returned with a disco version of Una lacrima sul viso . With Gelosia he reached the final again at the 1980 Sanremo Festival . After three other relatively unsuccessful Sanremo participations ( 1981 with Non posso perderti , 1982 with Tu stai and 1984 with Ancora ti vorrei ) he founded the 60s revival group RoBoT together with Rosanna Fratello and Little Tony , which in 1985 and 1987 two Released cover albums.
After a long absence, Bobby Solo returned to Sanremo in 2003 , where he presented Non si cresce mai with Little Tony . The two then released an album of the same name. After that, Bobby Solo remained musically active, with regular appearances and publications.
