Ermal Meta (2018)

Ermal Meta (born April 20, 1981 in Fier , Albania ) is an Italian- Albanian cantautore and songwriter .

Career

Meta left the Albanian homeland and the violent father with his mother and siblings at the age of 13 and moved to Bari . There he began his musical career as the guitarist of the band Ameba 4 , which competed in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival in 2006 . In the following year he founded the band La fame di Camilla , with whom he released a total of three albums. In 2010 this band also entered the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival, but did not make it to the final; it dissolved again in 2013.

Meta began his solo career as a songwriter for various Italian singers, including Emma , Francesco Renga , Patty Pravo , Chiara , Marco Mengoni , Francesca Michielin , Francesco Sarcina , Giusy Ferreri , Annalisa and Lorenzo Fragola . In 2013 he wrote the song Non miinteresta for Patty Pravo together with Niccolò Agliardi , in which he himself acted as a duet partner.

In early 2014 Meta released the song Tutto si muove , which found its way into the soundtrack of the TV series Braccialetti rossi . The single Lettera a mio padre followed later that year . At the end of 2015 the single Odio le favole was released ; with this song Meta made it into the finalists of the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival 2016 , where it reached the third place. At the 2017 Sanremo Festival , Meta competed in the main category. With Vietato he came back in third place and won the critic's award.

Together with Fabrizio Moro , Meta returned to Sanremo in 2018 , where the duo with Non mi avete fatto niente won. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon , it then reached fifth place for Italy .
