Emma Marrone (* 25. May 1984 in Florence as Emmanuela Marrone ), also known as Emma , is an Italian pop singer .

Career

Marrone was born in Florence but lives with her family in Aradeo in the province of Lecce . She first appeared in public in the girl group Lucky Star , which was cast in 2003 for the Italian version of the casting show Popstars and released an album. After further experience in groups, the singer took part in the ninth season of the casting show Amici di Maria De Filippi and won it in 2010. Shortly after this success, she released the EP Oltre . Both this and the debut single Calore reached the top of the charts in Italy and were also successful in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The debut album A me piace so appeared in September of that year.

In 2011 Marrone took part in a duet with the group Modà at the Sanremo Festival and achieved second place with the song Arriverà . This was followed by a Sanremo edition of the first album, followed by the second album Sarò libera , which again reached number one in the charts. The following year, the singer entered the race again in Sanremo and finally won the festival with the song Non è l'inferno, written by Modà frontman Kekko Silvestre . The song then reached number 1 in the charts, as did the later released single Cercavo amore - included on a Sanremo edition of the second album. In the same year there was a special competition for former participants in the Amici casting show , in which Marrone took second place behind Alessandra Amoroso .

The third album, Schiena, was also a number one success for the singer in 2013. In 2014 she was selected internally by the Italian television company Rai to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen . With the title La mia città , she only landed in 21st place. She then released a special edition of her last album, Schiena vs. seemed , and intensified their concert activities . At the Sanremo Festival 2015 , Marrone took on the role of moderator for the first time (alongside Carlo Conti , Arisa and Rocío Muñoz Morales ). Her fourth regular studio album was released in late 2015 under the title Adesso .

Meanwhile also working as a producer, Marrone took over the production of the debut album of the Amici graduate Elodie in 2016 , which she also sent into the race at the Sanremo Festival 2017 with the song Tutta colpa mia . In general, she always remained closely connected to Amcici and has been the artistic director of the casting show for four seasons so far. The single L'isola finally ushered in the singer's next studio album, Essere qui , in 2018 .
