Irama (* 20th December 1995 in Carrara as Filippo Maria Fanti ) is an Italian singer .

Career

Fanti was enthusiastic about music from an early age, especially cantautori like Francesco Guccini , Fabrizio De André or Lucio Battisti . In his youth he became increasingly interested in hip-hop . He now chose Irama as his stage name , an anagram of his middle name and at the same time a Malay word used to describe the tempo of gamelan music. He presented himself to a larger audience for the first time in 2015 on the television program #SG - Sanremo Giovani , in which he was selected as a participant in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival 2016 . There he did not make it to the final with his song Cosa resterà . At the same time his first, self-titled album was released.

At the Coca-Cola Summer Festival 2016, Irama won the newcomer category with Tornerai da me . The singer took part in the festival again in 2017. At the end of the year he took part in the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi , which he won on June 11, 2018. With the EP Plume he reached the top of the chart in the final week. The single Nera also made it to number two in the single charts. In the same year Irama's second album Giovani was released , which again reached the top of the chart. At the Sanremo Festival 2019 , the singer reached seventh place with La ragazza con il cuore di latta .
