Amici di Maria De Filippi (mostly Amici for short , initially Saranno Famosi ) is an Italian casting show that is currently broadcast on Canale 5 and moderated by Maria De Filippi . To date, 19 seasons have been produced, making it the longest-running casting show on Italian television.

Charisma and concept

Maria De Filippi, 2009

The casting show started in 2001 under the name Saranno Famosi and was renamed at the beginning of 2003, as there was a risk of confusion with the television series Fame - The Path to Fame in Italy . The first season was broadcast by Italia 1 , the second already partly on Canale 5 , until the show finally switched to Canale 5 from the third season.

Amici is designed as a school: For about a school year , the 20 or so casted “students” are trained by some prominent “teachers” in the respective category and accompanied by cameramen. The categories changed over the years: initially singers , dancers ( jazz , hip-hop , classical), actors , musicians and TV presenters were allowed; In the second season musicians and TV presenters were dropped; in the sixth gymnasts were briefly added; from the ninth season onwards, actors dropped out, while opera singing was added for a short time; From the twelfth season rap was allowed, from the 13th on, bands and breakdance groups as well as Latin American dance were added.

The broadcast television program is divided into two phases: in the first, the training of the participants is shown, each of which is assessed by their teachers and finally (since the ninth season) by a jury; In the second phase, the participants appear in public and are rated by the television viewers using televoting . In the finals, in addition to the determination of a winner through the televoting, a critics prize is also awarded by the journalists (since the third season); it's about cash prizes (including a scholarship ) and a contract with Mediaset .
