occupation

Fame is an American television series that aired in the United States from 1982 to 1987 in six seasons. In Germany, the ARD broadcast only 26 of the 39 episodes of the first and second season, the rest of the total of 136 episodes were never broadcast in Germany. The series was based on the 1980 produced Oscar-winning film Fame , which was directed by Alan Parker and in which the actors Debbie Allen, Albert Hague, Gene Anthony Ray and Lee Curreri had already played the same roles. Like the film, the series wasdevelopedby Christopher Gore .

action

At the New York High School Of Performing Arts, the school for performing arts, young up-and-coming artists learn the basics for a career in show business. The main characters of the series include keyboardist Bruno Martelli (Lee Curreri), singer Coco Hernandez (Erica Gimpel), comedian Danny Amatullo (Carlo Imperato), actors Montgomery MacNeil (PR Paul) and Doris Schwartz (Valerie Landsburg), the Dancer Leroy Johnson (Gene Anthony Ray) and the cellist Julie Miller (Lori Singer).

Dance teacher Lydia Grant (Debbie Allen), music teacher Benjamin Shorofsky (Albert Hague), strict English teacher Elizabeth Sherwood (Carol Mayo Jenkins) and acting teacher Gregory Crandall (Michael Thoma) teach the talented students.

The success of the series was based both in the USA and in Germany on the versatility of the actors, who were also able to demonstrate their musical talent in several songs in each episode. A total of four records with music from film and series have been released.
