Lori Jacqueline Singer (born November 6, 1957 in Corpus Christi , Texas ) is an American actress .

Life

Singer was born to Canadian Jewish immigrants. Her father Jacques Singer was a conductor and her mother Leslie a pianist . Her brother Marc Singer is also an actor, and her cousin Bryan Singer is a director. She is a cellist who graduated from the Juilliard School and still performs as a soloist today.

Singer played in the series Fame from 1982 to 1983 the role of Julie Miller. A wide audience was it in 1984 as Ariel Moore, the daughter of a conservative priest in the movie Footloose at the side of Kevin Bacon known. She also starred in The Falcon and the Snowman and The Crazy One with the Violin Case . She also appeared as cellist Zoe Trainer in Robert Altman's film Short Cuts . Singer played the cello himself.

Singer has not been able to build on her early successes since the 1990s. To this day, however, she is in front of the camera for independent films. She is also involved in charitable causes and was involved in the production of the documentary Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God in 2012 . Singer was married to actor Richard Emery from 1980 until their divorce in 1996. There is a child from this marriage.
