Fausto Leali
Fausto Leali (born October 29, 1944 in Nuvolento , Province of Brescia ) is an Italian singer .
Life
Leali's family had financial problems, which is why the young Fausto initially worked in a sausage shop. At the age of twelve he took part in a music competition and joined a local group. In 1961 he released his first single. His first recordings included many cover versions , such as Please Please Me and She Loves You by the Beatles . With the band Novelty he performed regularly in dance halls.
Leali had his first success in 1967 with A chi , a cover by Hurt ( Timi Yuro ); he then made his debut with Deborah at the Sanremo Festival in 1968 . He took part in the festival several more times in quick succession ( 1969 , 1970 , 1972 and 1973 ), but without attracting much attention. It wasn't until 1986 that a duet with Mina , Via di qua , which was the theme song for a television show, brought him back into the limelight. At the Sanremo Festival in 1987 he was able to achieve fourth place with Io amo , fifth in 1988 with Mi manchi and finally first in 1989 with Ti lascerò in a duet with Anna Oxa . In the same year Leali and Oxa represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with Avrei voluto and came in 9th.
In the 90s Leali went to an intensive concert activity and also took part in the Sanremo Festival again in 1992 and 1997 . In 2002 he was able to get fourth place there with Ora che ho bisogno di te in a duet with Luisa Corna , further participations followed in 2003 and 2009 .
