Antonio Diodato (born August 30, 1981 in Aosta ), known as Diodato , is an Italian pop singer and songwriter .

Career

Diodato grew up in Taranto ( Apulia ) and later moved to Rome , where he completed a cultural studies degree in film (DAMS) at the University of Rome III . His first musical work was created in Sweden in collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello . After a recording deal in Italy, he released his first album E forse sono pazzo in 2013 . At the Sanremo Festival 2014 he reached number two in the newcomer category with the song Babilonia , and the cover album was released that same year A ritrovar bellezza . In 2016 he worked with Daniele Silvestri for his album Acrobati and also performed at concerts by his fellow musician.

With Cosa siamo diventati , Diodato released his third album in 2017, which was released by Carosello Records and hit the charts for the first time. In addition, his participation in the Sanremo Festival 2018 was announced, alongside Roy Paci . There the duo with Adesso was able to achieve eighth place. At the Sanremo Festival 2019 he appeared on one evening as a duet partner of participant Ghemon . In the same year he released several singles, including the song Che vita meravigliosa , which became known as part of the soundtrack of the film La dea fortuna by Ferzan Özpetek .

At the 2020 Sanremo Festival , Diodato presented the song Fai rumore . With this he not only won the main competition, but was also able to secure the Critics' Prize, the Press Prize and the Premio Lunezia for the best text. He was also supposed to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam . However, the competition had to be canceled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
