Riccardo Fogli (2009)

Riccardo Fogli ( [rik'ːardo 'fɔʎːi] ; born October 21, 1947 in Pontedera ) is an Italian singer . After six years with the band Pooh , he began a solo career in 1973, during which he took part eight times in the Sanremo Festival and once in the Eurovision Song Contest .

Career

Fogli began as the bassist of the rock band Slenders and joined the beat band Pooh as bassist and singer in 1966 , after their bassist Gilberto Faggioli left. Over the next six years he released five successful albums with Pooh until he announced his exit in 1973; The trigger was an affair Fogli with the singer Patty Pravo .

After a few singles, Fogli's first solo album Ciao amore come stai was released in 1973 . The following year the singer took part in the Sanremo Festival for the first time with the song Complici , but did not make it to the final. Nevertheless, his fame rose again, especially through the single Mondo from 1976; that year Fogli also released his second, self-titled album. At the beginning of the 80s, especially after starting to work with the songwriter duo Maurizio Fabrizio and Guido Morra , he achieved further sales successes: in 1981 he had a smaller hit with the single Malinconia and the album Campione was able to build on it. On this wave of success, Fogli returned to the Sanremo Festival in 1982 , where his song Storie di tutti i giorni, according to the forecasts, brought the victory. The song became Fogli's first number one hit in Italy and also brought him international fame. At the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 in Munich , he then went into the race with Per Lucia as an Italian candidate, but could not achieve any notable success.

Despite many other Sanremo participations ( 1985 with Sulla buona strada , 1989 with Non finisce così , 1990 with Ma quale amore , 1991 Io ti prego di ascoltare , 1992 with In una notte così and 1996 with Romanzo ) Fogli's popularity dropped in the mid-80s -Years after. From 1987 he worked again sporadically with his bandmates from Pooh (he can be heard on their album Le infinite vie del cuore ), in 1991 he separated from his long-time producer Giancarlo Lucariello. It wasn't until 2004 that he made a name for himself again when he took part in the first edition of the Italian reality show Music Farm and won it. In 2005 Fogli released Ci saranno giorni migliori, his only regular studio album in the new millennium.

2015 there was a reunion Foglis with Pooh, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the band tape. Together, the five members gave one last concert series in 2016 before the band split up. In this context Fogli returned for the first time as a guest at the Sanremo Festival . In 2017 Fogli teamed up with ex-Pooh frontman Roby Facchinetti and recorded the collab album Insieme . The two also entered the race at the 2018 Sanremo Festival .
