Roby Facchinetti
Roby Facchinetti (born May 1, 1944 in Bergamo as Camillo Ferdinando Facchinetti ) is an Italian musician. From 1966 until the breakup in 2016 he was the frontman of the band Pooh .
Career
Facchinetti joined the recently founded beat band Pooh in 1966 and replaced the British keyboardist Bob Gillot. He became the group's central songwriter and was responsible for the music of practically all of the songs until 1971, while the lyrics were mostly by Valerio Negrini . Riccardo Fogli and Dodi Battaglia took over the singing at first , but in 1974 (after Fogli's departure) the role of lead singer was also transferred to Facchinetti.
After great success with the band, the musician released his first self-titled solo album in 1984. a. recorded with symphony orchestra . He continued to be active within Pooh, winning the 1990 Sanremo Festival in 1990 . 1993 was the turn of Facchinetti's second solo album Fai col cuore . Together with his son Francesco , he took part in the 2007 Sanremo Festival . It was not until 2014 that he followed up with the third album, Ma che vita la mia , which reached the top of the Italian album charts and was the last album on which Valerio Negrini had worked before his death. Back at his son's side, Facchinetti worked as a coach on the talent show The Voice of Italy in 2015 .
In 2016 Pooh gave the final tour for the 50th anniversary of the band, on which Riccardo Fogli joined again. Facchinetti started a joint project with him in 2017, which resulted in the joint album Insieme . The two also entered the race at the Sanremo Festival 2018 , but only achieved 18th place with Il segreto del tempo .
In March 2020, on the occasion of the COVID-19 pandemic , Facchinetti published the song Rinascerò, rinascerai about his hometown Bergamo, which was badly hit by the crisis. The lyrics are from Pooh drummer Stefano D'Orazio. All proceeds are to be donated to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo. The song reached number two in the Italian single charts.
