Donato "Dodi" Battaglia (born June 1, 1951 in Bologna ) is an Italian guitarist , singer and composer who is best known for his almost 50 years in the band Pooh .

Career

Battaglia came from a musical family and became active in the local Bologna music scene at a very young age in the mid-1960s. At the age of 17 Valerio Negrini from the up-and-coming beat band Pooh made him the offer to join the group as guitarist after Mauro Bertoli left. As part of the Pooh lineup, Battaglia not only played guitar from then on, but also appeared as a singer. He also learned to play the piano and composed a large part of the band's repertoire. In 1985 his first solo album was released with Più in alto che c'è .

In addition to his band activities, Battaglia also worked with other musician colleagues, including Zucchero , Vasco Rossi , Gino Paoli , Mia Martini , Raf and Enrico Ruggeri . In 1997 the American guitar manufacturer Fender produced the signature model Fender Dodicaster for the musician . Battaglia released an instrumental album with D'assolo in 2003, and in 2007 he produced the debut album by his son Daniele Battaglia . In 2015 he released the album Dov'è andata la musica together with the Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel . After Pooh broke up for the 50th anniversary of the band in 2016, Battaglia released the double live album E la storia continua ... after a solo tour in 2017 .
