Emilio Pericoli (born January 7, 1928 in Cesenatico , † April 9, 2013 in Savignano sul Rubicone ) was an Italian singer .

Career

His career was closely linked to the Sanremo Festival . In 1961, Pericoli took on a cover version of the winning title Al di là by Betty Curtis . With him Pericoli conquered the international charts. It rose to number 6 on the US Billboard charts and reached number 30 in the UK.

In 1962 Pericoli took part in the Sanremo Festival for the first time. Together with the composer Tony Renis he sang the ballad Quando, quando, quando , which missed the top spots, but later developed into one of the most internationally famous Italian songs.

In the following year , Pericoli appeared again in a duet with Renis in Sanremo and was able to enter the list of winners with the song Uno per tutte . By winning the festival, he also qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 . In the competition held in London , he came third behind the Danish couple Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann and Esther Ofarim, who competed for Switzerland .
