Daniele Silvestri
Daniele Silvestri (born August 18, 1968 in Rome ) is an Italian Cantautore . He took part in the Sanremo Festival several times and received various awards, including a David di Donatello for the best film song.
Career
Silvestri's father Alberto was a writer and television writer. As a child he learned the piano and guitar, later he was active in various music groups and also founded a short-lived band himself. He made his official debut in the summer of 1994 with the self-titled debut album, which was awarded the Targa Tenco for best debut. It contained the song Voglia di gridare , with which he qualified for the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival in 1995 in the Sanremo Giovani competition . There he presented the song L'uomo col megafono , which earned him a 10th place and the Volare Prize for the best literary text. This was followed by the album Prima di essere un uomo and the very successful radio single Le cose in comune , awarded the Targa Tenco as song of the year.
After a first tour, Silvestri wrote the soundtrack for the film Cuori al verde by Giuseppe Piccioni in June 1996 ; Songs from it also found their way into his third studio album Il dado . The song Cohiba was dedicated to Che Guevara . A long tour followed, with Max Gazzè appearing as bassist. Part of the tour was also an appearance at an event in communist Havana . In May 1997 he appeared as an actor and singer on the side of Rocco Papaleo in the play Rosso fiammante bloccato neve dubbio vetro tesi infinito . A few months later, the Frankenstein musical went on tour with Tullio Solenghi , for which Silvestri had composed the music.
In 1998 he again wrote music for a film soundtrack, Barbara , and for the play Domani notte a mezzanotte qui , both by Angelo Orlando . After working on the new album, Silvestri again took part in the Sanremo Festival in 1999 , this time in the main category. The song Aria , in which he addresses life in prison, earned him the " Mia Martini " critic award. Shortly afterwards he published his fourth album Sig. Dapatas and wrote the score for Albania by Fabrizio Maria Cortese with Giancarlo Giannini . In the summer of 2000 he was responsible for the music for Tango , a play by Francesca Zanni about the fate of the Desaparecidos in Argentina. In October he published the first best of Occhi da Orientale - Il meglio di Daniele Silvestri , which also contained three previously unreleased songs and was his last release on the Dischi Ricordi label .
In 2002 Silvestri again took part in the Sanremo Festival, this time with Salirò . This time, too, he received the Critics' Prize and then four Italian Music Awards (for the best composition, the best video, the best single and the best arrangement), and the song rose to number five on the charts. This was followed by two more singles, Semper di domenica and Il mio nemico (awarded by Amnesty International ), which are included on his sixth album Unò – dué . The album was released on his own label Panama , distributed by Sony . In 2003 the musician published the book L'autostrada , in which he described his last tour and his musical activities with photos, texts and diary entries. The year ended with a concert in Maputo , Mozambique, in support of an aid campaign for the developing world.
A year later, Silvestri's first live album, Livre trânsito, was released . It also contained the songs Kunta Kinte (in collaboration with Frankie HI-NRG ), Il secondo da sinistra (written for Mina ) and Il fiume e la nebbia (written for Fiorella Mannoia ). In 2004 he also took part in the benefit concert in Mozambique, this time together with Max Gazzè. He then withdrew from the public for a while.
Only in 2007 did Silvestri return to Sanremo with the song La paranza , where he was able to achieve fourth place. The song also earned him number two in the single charts (and number one in the download charts). His eighth album was released in March, entitled Il latitante . The single Mi persi found its way into the soundtrack of the film Notturno Bus with Valerio Mastandrea and Giovanna Mezzogiorno and was awarded the David di Donatello for best song. The second single Gino e l'Alfetta was declared the official anthem of the Gay Pride 2007, which took place in Rome. Then the song A me ricordi il mare appeared in collaboration with the band Otto Ohm ; Silvestri also wrote two songs that are sung by the actor Nicolas Vaporidis in the film Questa notte è ancora nostra .
After the compilation Monetine (2008), which also included the Paolo Conte cover Una giornata al mare , Silvestri released the next studio album SCOTCH in 2011. He then worked with Niccolò Fabi , Gino Paoli and Raiz . Then he worked again for soundtracks: first for Immaturi - Il viaggio , then for Capitan Kuk , which also resulted in a musical. In 2013 he entered the race again at the Sanremo Festival and presented A bocca chiusa and Il bisogno di te (ricatto d'onor) , with the former taking sixth place. This was followed by the EP Che nemmeno Mennea . At the beginning of 2014 he presented the title song of the film Tutta colpa di Freud by Paolo Genovese with Tutta colpa di Freud (Il giardino di Psiche) .
Also in 2014 he teamed up with Max Gazzè and Niccolò Fabi to form the Fabi Silvestri Gazzè project , from which the collaboration album Il padrone della festa emerged , which was the first number one album for all three participants. After their extensive tour together, they also released a live album of the same name in 2015. In 2016, Silvestri returned with his next solo album, Acrobati , which reached the top of the album charts. At the Sanremo Festival 2019 , the Cantautore, in collaboration with Rancore and Manuel Agnelli , achieved sixth place with the song Argentovivo and was able to secure the Critics' Prize, the Journalist Prize and the Prize for the Best Text.
From 2000 to 2009 Silvestri was in a committed relationship with actress Simona Cavallari , with whom he has two children. In 2012 he married Lisa Lelli.
