The 63rd edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo took place in 2013 from February 12th to 16th at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo and was moderated by Fabio Fazio and Luciana Littizzetto . The winner of the competition was Marco Mengoni with L'essenziale . He also represented Italy at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with the song .

organization

The festival was organized by Italy's public broadcaster Rai . Fazio moderated the festival for the third time after 1999 and 2000. At the same time he was the artistic director ( direttore artistico ) of the event. For Luciana Littizzetto it was the first time that she moderated the festival. Mauro Pagani was responsible for the musical direction ( direzione musicale ) , the stage set was by Francesca Montinaro and directed by Duccio Forzano .
