Max Gazzè
Max Gazzè (* 6. July 1967 in Rome as Massimiliano Gazzè ) is an Italian pop singer , songwriter , bassist and actor .
Career
Gazzè grew up in Belgium , where his family had moved. There he attended the European School Brussels II and worked as a bass player in several local bands. In the early 1980s he played for five years in the English Northern soul group 4 Play 4 , where he also worked as a songwriter and arranger. He later moved to the south of France and worked as a producer for Pyramid and Tiziana Kutich , among others . At the beginning of the 1990s, Gazzè finally returned to Rome and continued his work in the field of music: he composed music for short films , worked with musicians such as Alex Britti , Niccolò Fabi and Daniele Silvestri and played a short time in the RnB group Emporium .
In 1996, the musician presented his debut album Contro un'onda del mare on Virgin Records , which he was able to present in advance as the opening act of Franco Battiato . With the song Cara Valentina he applied in 1997 in the Sanremo Giovani competition for the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival of the following year, but did not make it through the selection. In 1998 he took part in the Un disco per l'estate competition with Niccolò Fabi and won with the song Vento d'estate . Both competition entries were included on the second album La favola di Adamo ed Eva . The following year Gazzè was finally able to start the race in Sanremo with Una musica può fare . In 2000 he returned there (now in the main category) and presented Il timido ubriaco , single from his third studio album Max Gazzè . A year later the next album, Ognuno fa quello che gli pare? , which also included collaborations with Paola Turci and Carmen Consoli .
In the following years Gazzè intensified his concert activities. In 2003 he switched to Capitol Records , in 2004 the next album Un giorno was released under this label , followed in 2005 by the compilation Raduni 1995-2005 . EMI also released The Best of Platinum in 2007 . After further collaboration with Daniele Silvestri and a joint tour with Paola Turci and Marina Rei , Gazzè again took part in the Sanremo Festival in 2008 ; his competition entry Il solito sesso announced the new album Tra l'aratro e la radio , which was not released for the first time by EMI. In 2010 he made his actor debut in the film Basilicata Coast to Coast by Rocco Papaleo , for whose soundtrack he also recorded the song Mentre dormi , which won the David di Donatello for best film song in 2011 . It appeared on the album Quindi? at Universal .
In the summer of 2011, Gazzè went on tour with the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini orchestra from Parma as part of the L'uomo sinfonico project : he presented a selection of his songs with new arrangements. In 2013 , however, he returned to Sanremo and presented Sotto casa and I tuoi maledettissimi impegni , the former of which made it to the finals. The album Sotto casa was then released . The singer also appeared in the Italian science fiction film 12 12 12 . In the following year he teamed up with Daniele Silvestri and Niccolò Fabi to form the Fabi Silvestri Gazzè project , from which the collab album Il padrone della festa emerged , which was the first number one album for all three participants. A live album of the same name emerged from the extensive joint tour in 2015. In 2014, Gazzè took on his third film role in the drama Misunderstood by Asia Argento .
At the end of 2015 Gazzè released his new solo album Maximilian . Successful singles from it were La vita com'è and Ti sembra normal . After a long break, his participation in the Sanremo Festival 2018 was announced. There he reached sixth place with La leggenda di Cristalda e Pizzomunno and was awarded the special prize for the best arrangement. The next album, Alchemaya, was then released .
