Paola Turci
Paola Turci (born September 12, 1964 in Rome ) is an Italian cantautrice (songwriter). She took part in the Sanremo Festival ten times .
Career
Turci began her career in 1986 in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival , where she presented L'uomo di ieri . In the following two years she also took part with Primo tango ( 1987 ) and Sarò bellissima ( 1988 ); although it never reached the finals, it was able to secure the critics award in both 1987 and 1988. In 1988 her debut album Ragazza sola, ragazza blu , produced by Mario Castelnuovo and Gaio Chiocchio, was released . So far little noticed by the audience, but celebrated by the critics, Turci competed in 1989 with Bambini for the fourth time in Sanremo (in the unique category Emergenti , intermediate level between newcomers and main category); this time she reached first place (and again the critic's award). The second, self-titled album followed.
The musician began to perform live more often and returned frequently to Sanremo: In 1990 she appeared in the main category for the first time with Ringrazio Dio , in 1993 with Stato di calma apparente and in 1996 with Volo so . The latter song also gave her first compilation the title with which she was able to reach the album charts for the first time. Turci also sang the successful duet E mi arriva il mare with Riccardo Cocciante in 1991 . After concluding the contract with BMG , Turci moved to Milan and from then on worked with WEA . The first album under the new label was Oltre le nuvole (1997), which contained Italian cover versions of English-language songs. She returned to Sanremo in 1998 with Solo come me .
The next album Mi basta il paradiso was released in 2000 and contained both cover versions and new songs. After the following participation in Sanremo ( 2001 with Saluto l'inverno ) the album was reissued. Then Turci changed record company again and released the albums Questa parte di mondo (2002), Stato di calma apparente (live, 2004) and Tra i fuochi in mezzo al cielo (2005). In 2007 she formed a trio with Marina Rei and Max Gazzè for the tour Di comune accordo , which also had an appearance at the Sanremo Festival 2008 (where Gazzè was in the running). Between 2009 and 2012, however, Turci published a trilogy of albums dedicated to love, consisting of Attraversami il cuore , Giorni di rose and Le storie degli altri .
In 2015 the compilation Io sono appeared , which also contained unpublished songs. In December 2016, Turci's participation in the 2017 Sanremo Festival was announced; there she reached fifth place with Fatti bella per te . The song is included on the album Il secondo cuore . In 2019 she returned to Sanremo with L'ultimo ostacolo .
