Jonas Hjort Knudsen (born September 16, 1992 in Esbjerg ) is a Danish football player . He started his career at Esbjerg fB and moved to England for the second division club Ipswich Town in 2015 . Knudsen has been under contract with the Swedish first division team Malmö FF since 2019 . He is a Danish national player and took part with the team in the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia .

Esbjerg fB (until 2015)

Knudsen initially joined Hjerting IF in his childhood and from there switched to the youth of the professional club Esbjerg fB .

On March 28, 2010 Knudsen made his professional debut in the 0: 4 on the 23rd match day in the Superliga at Randers FC with his substitution in the 69th minute for Andreas Klarström . He came to a total of seven missions in the 2009/10 season. The Esbjerg finished fourth in the table at the end of the season. In the new season he played in the league in five games and was used in two games in the Danish cup competition. Esbjerg fB was relegated from the super league at the end of the season. On April 29, 2012, Knudsen scored his first goal in the senior division with the goal of 2-0 in the 45th minute in a 2-1 win on the 19th matchday of the second division against Skive IK . He played 18 games in the 2011/12 second division season. At the end of the season there was a direct return to the Super League. In the following season he completed 32 games in the Super League; on May 16, 2013 Knudsen scored his first goal in the Superliga with the goal to make it 5-2 in a 6-2 win on matchday 32 against Odense BK . Esbjerg fB finished fourth and qualified to play in the Europa League play-offs . In the new season Esbjerg fB qualified for participation in the Europa League after the play-offs . On September 19, 2013 Knudsen made his European debut in a 2-1 win in the first group match of the UEFA Europa League at Standard Liège . Esbjerg fB was eliminated in the round of 32 against Fiorentina . Knudsen was used in all eight games in the Europa League, in the league he played 31 times and scored one goal. Esbjerg fB qualified fifth in the league for the second qualifying round for the Europa League . In the following season Esbjerg fB was eliminated in the third qualifying round against Ruch Chorzów ; Knudsen was only used in the second leg. In the league he played 28 times and scored two goals. Esbjerg fB took eighth place in the Superliga and was eliminated in the Danish Cup in the semifinals. Knudsen was used in all six games. In the new season he played twice for Esbjerg fB in the Superliga.

Ipswich Town (2015 to 2019)

In August 2015 he moved to the Football League Championship at Ipswich Town and played one game in the FA Cup and 42 games in the league . On April 19, 2016, Knudsen scored his first goal for Ipswich Town with the 1-1 final score on Matchday 43 in the game against Fulham FC . The club finished seventh at the end of the season. After a 17th place in 2017 and a twelfth place in 2018, Ipswich Town was relegated to Football League One in 2019 .

Malmö FF (since 2019)

In June 2019 Knudsen moved to the Swedish Allsvenskan for Malmö FF . His contract runs until 2023.

National team

Knudsen played six times for the Danish U-18 national team , nine times for the U-19 and three times in the U-20.

On May 31, 2013 Knudsen made his debut for the Danish U-21 national team in a 0-0 win against Ireland, he was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Fredrik Møller after 70 minutes . With the U-21 he qualified for the U-21 European Football Championship 2015 in the Czech Republic . There he played in two group matches and reached the semi-finals against Sweden as group winners alongside Jannik Vestergaard , Pierre Emile Højbjerg , Yussuf Poulsen and Viktor Fischer . The team with Knudsen lost 1: 4. He played a total of 17 times for the Danish U-21 national team.

On March 28, 2014 Knudsen completed his 1-0 win in Copenhagen in a friendly against Sweden, his debut for the Danish national team ; he came on in the 53rd minute for Jakob Ahlmann Nielsen .
