Andreas Klarström (born December 23, 1977 in Borås ) is a Swedish football player . The defender and midfielder has played in his home country, Norway and Denmark throughout his career so far.

Career

Klarström grew up in the Borås district of Brämhult and began playing football at the local football club Brämhults IK . In 1995 he moved within the city to IF Elfsborg , where his father Frank Klarström had already played successfully in the 1970s and 1980s. After a year in the junior division, he moved up to the men's team. Initially, the young player, nicknamed "Frankie Boy junior", was only used irregularly in the Allsvenskan , so that in 1998 he was given up to Norway. On loan, he joined IK Start in the second highest Norwegian league in the fall of that year .

After his return to IF Elfsborg, Klarström did not initially receive a new contract, but ultimately the club officials decided to extend it. Under coach Bengt-Arne Strömberg , who was newly appointed during the season, he became a regular player in the 1999 season and was thus one of the guarantors of relegation. Also in the following years as a right-footed player on the left flank, he moved into the final of the Svenska Cup against AIK in summer 2001 alongside Johan Wiland , Kristoffer Arvhage , Niklas Gudmundsson , Anders Svensson and Fredrik Berglund . After Nebojša Novaković had shot the opposing club in the lead in the first half, Klarström scored the goal shortly after the restart to make it 1-1, which lasted until the end of extra time. After three players had missed each time on 22 penalties in the first round, the first shooters had to start again. While Fredrik Mohlin scored for IFE, Sharbel Touma failed on the side of AIK and made the club from Borås the cup winners. While the club continued to play in the lower midfield under coach Anders Grönhagen , he repeated the cup victory in 2003. Alongside Jonas Lundén , Magnus Samuelsson and Samuel Holmén in midfield, he won the title for the second time. With a brace, Lars Nilsson ensured another cup triumph in the 2-0 win over the second division side Assyriska Föreningen . After leaving Grönhagen, the first division team signed Magnus Haglund as his successor before the 2004 season . Under his leadership he was still a regular player and despite being in the middle of the table, he attracted international attention.

In January 2006 Klarström joined the Danish club Esbjerg fB , where he met his former club mate Berglund. Under coach Troels Bech he was a regular player right away, alongside Jesper Bech , Njogu Demba-Nyrén , Kristian Flittie Onstad and Niki Zimling , he moved into the cup final in his first year. As a substitute he was on the field from the 68th minute instead of Michaël Murcy against Randers FC , after a goal by Karsten Johansen , who was sent off the field with a yellow-red card following his goal , the game went 0: 1 lost after extra time. While he placed with the team in the middle of the table in the following years, he reached the cup final with her again in 2008. This time he was at the side of his compatriot Fredrik Björck in the starting line-up. Despite two goals from Søren Rieks , this game was also lost against Brøndby IF , as Martin Retov and the Swedes Holmén and Max von Schlebrügge each scored well and led their club to a 3-2 victory. Under coach Ove Pedersen , who took over as coach at the beginning of 2009, the player, meanwhile also on the left side of defense, was still a regular. At the end of the 2009/10 season , in which he was in the starting eleven in 30 of the 33 season games, the team just barely missed qualifying for the European Cup as fourth in the table.

In the summer of 2010 Klarström returned to Sweden and signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with his longstanding play station IF Elfsborg. In the second half of the Allsvenskan season 2010 he was again a regular under Haglund and qualified with the team as well as in the following year for the qualifying round for the UEFA Europa League .
