Bengt-Arne "BA" Strömberg (born February 13, 1954 ) is a Swedish former football coach . The greatest success of his coaching career was winning the Svenska Cup in 2001.

Career

Strömberg began playing football at the Gothenburg club GAIS at the age of eight . There he went through the individual youth teams and then played in the second team of the club. After he had played for the Gothenburg amateur club IF Warta , he ended his career at IF Viken from Åmål, who also played lower class .

Strömberg's coaching career also began in the lower league area. After coaching positions in Mölnlycke and at various Gothenburg district clubs as well as a municipal youth selection, he led the exercises at the second division club Jonsereds IF in the early 1990s . In early 1993 he moved back to his home club GAIS within the league. Two years later he led the team to second place in the table of the southern season of the second division behind IK Oddevold . In the subsequent relegation games against IFK Norrköping , however, they remained unsuccessful after a 1-1 draw at home and a 0-1 away defeat. Also in the following season the success failed and the club slipped into the relegation battle, so that Strömberg was released prematurely from his duties. He continued to work in youth work on the club's payroll, while the club was relegated to third division at the end of the season.

Stromberg later moved to IF Elfsborg in Allsvenskan as Karl-Gunnar Björklund's assistant . When he was dismissed in the summer of 1999, Strömberg took over as coach and led the team to ninth place in the table at the end of the season. With striker Fredrik Berglund , who was the league's top scorer with 18 goals, the team reached fifth place in the league in the following season. In the summer of the following year, Strömberg reached the cup final with the club. The team prevailed against AIK on penalties . In the championship, however, the team was not nearly as successful and played against relegation. At the end of the season in autumn, a point ahead of the relegation place occupied by IFK Norrköping saved the league. Therefore, despite the cup win, the club separated from the coach and replaced him with Anders Grönhagen .

After IFK Norrköping had prevailed against Mjällby AIF in the relegation, Klub Strömberg signed as a new coach. After half a year, however, the club dismissed him for failure. Under his successor Håkan Ericson , the team occupied a relegation place at the end of the season. In the following years, Strömberg trained the amateur club Floda BoIF , before he later retired from football and reoriented his career as a truck driver.
