history

IF Viken was founded in 1922. Initially appearing in the lower class, the club rose to the third division for the first time in 1929. In the following years the team oscillated between the third and fourth level of the game. After a renewed rise in the summer of 1941, the club established itself in the sequence at the third level. After a runner-up in 1945, the club placed in the following season after only one season defeat at the top of its third division season and moved into the promotion games. After successes over Kungshamns IF and IFK Bofors , he rose to the second division for the first time.

In the season 1946/47 IF Viken occupied a relegation place with the penultimate place in the table. With two points ahead of bottom Deje IK , the club narrowly escaped a crash, as four of the ten teams had to relegate a league due to a league reform, but the bottom of the table was passed through to the fourth league. As third in the table behind Jonsereds IF and IFK Trollhättan , the team missed direct re-promotion, but repeated the relay win the following year. This time the club stayed in fifth place in the league. In the season 1950/51 achieved the best result in the club's history, when behind Åtvidabergs FF and Sandvikens IF was occupied third place. After a sixth place in the following season, the club ended the season in the summer of 1953 as bottom of the table and rose again.

IF Viken initially played for direct promotion to the second division, which was narrowly missed in 1955 as second behind SK Sifhälla . Then the club slipped from the table and finally rose in 1959 from the fourth division. After the direct resurgence, the club lined up in its third division season in the middle of the table and from the mid-1960s was on the verge of returning to the second division several times. In 1974 he was runner-up in the season, followed three years later by relegation to the fourth division. After the immediate resurgence, the team missed relegation and this time played two seasons in fourth class. First placed in the front area, the club was victim of a league reform in 1986 and, in contrast to the reform in the 1940s, this time occupied a table position as bottom in the table, which led two league classes down.

With the crash into the fifth division, IF Viken said goodbye to higher class football for a long time. It was not until the 1996 season that the team returned to the fourth division, but was relegated straight away. Later, the club rose to the sixth division, from which the team rose again briefly several times. After rising again in 2007, she placed in the middle of the table, but rose again at the end of 2010.
