The SK Sifhälla is a football club from the central Swedish Saffle . The team played several seasons in Sweden's second-highest division in the 1950s and 1960s .
history
In 1908 the club was founded under the name IF Sifhälla . In 1941 the club merged with local rivals Säffle SK and then gave itself the name that is still valid today. Until now the club had only attracted attention by winning the district championship in 1917, but at the beginning of the 1950s there was an upswing. The club, which previously only appeared in the lower class, won its fifth division season in 1952 and subsequently marched through the league pyramid. As a promoted team, the team left in the third division 3 Västra Svealand IF Viken and Billingsfors IK in the season 1954/55 and reached the second highest division for the first time. There, however, the soaring was stopped, with one point behind the last non-relegation places occupied by Surahammars IF and Köpings IS , the club had to relegate together with the bottom of the table Karlskoga IF .
SK Sifhälla won 15 of the 20 games of the season as relegated and thus sat back at the top of the table in the season 1956/57. This time the team stayed in the second division. As a runner-up in the Svealand season, she achieved the best result in the club's history in the 1960 season, but season winner Örebro SK had dominated the season without defeat and at the end of the season had eleven points ahead. The club could not confirm the success and found itself in the relegation battle in the following season. Only the better goal difference compared to the same point competitor IK City saved from going into the third division again. In the following seasons, the team moved back into the middle of the table and ended the season in 1965 in fourth. In the 1966 season, however, she won only three wins this season and rose from bottom of the table at the side of Tidaholms GIF and Varbergs BoIS .
As runner-up in the table, SK Sifhälla missed direct promotion, but slipped into the lower part of the table in the subsequent seasons. In 1971 the club rose to the fourth division, five years later to the fifth level. Occasionally sixth class, the club did not get beyond fourth class in the following years, in which he played in 1998 and 2003 to 2004. 2005 Victims of a league reform that led the club to the sixth division, the team returned to the fifth division at the end of the 2009 season.
