history

Köpings IS emerged from IFK Köping in 1910 . The soccer team initially competed in the central Swedish competition Mellansvenska series , which they finished in 1914 as champions, but three years later as relegated. In 1925 she was one of the founding members of the then unofficial second division, but could not hold the class here. 1929 succeeded in returning to the second highest division for one season, only a short time later the crash into fourth division occurred.

The bandy team, which appeared in the first division for the first time in 1934, developed in almost the opposite direction. Although the team missed relegation, but established themselves on the second level and rose again at the end of the 1937 season. The club was successful in Division 1 until 1942 . In the 1950s and 1960s, the team managed to return occasionally, but could not keep the class and was immediately relegated. It was only after rising again in 1969 that she stayed at the same level for several seasons, and in 1973 she went back to the second division. The last time ( as of 2014 ) the team played in the highest Swedish league in 1977.

In the 1960s to 1980s, the soccer team played again at times in third class, in 1990 they broke away from the main club.
