Köping is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västmanland County and in the historical province of Västmanland . The place is also the main town of the municipality of the same name .
In 1474, Köping was granted city rights. The Swedish national anthem Du gamla, Du fria was written by Richard Dybeck just outside the village . Today Köping is an industrial city where u. a. Volvo , Hästens Sängar , Getrag and GKN Driveline have production facilities.
In Köping, tungstic acid was isolated for the first time by Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1781 .
