Leif Eriksson (born March 20, 1942 in Köping ) is a former Swedish football and bandy player .

Career

Soccer

Eriksson joined Djurgårdens IF in 1960 from Köpings IS . In the following season he was in Division 1 one of the pillars of the team that made it back to the Allsvenskan . There he was one of the best players in the team that was runner-up behind IFK Norrköping in the first season . As a brilliant passer, the midfielder made his debut for the Swedish national team in 1962 . In 1964 and 1966 he was Swedish champion with his club.

In 1966 Eriksson moved to IK Sirius after 103 first division games in which he scored 45 goals . Here he played two seasons until 1968. He then went to Örebro SK . At the 1970 World Cup he was part of the Swedish squad. However, the team was eliminated on points with Uruguay because of the poorer goal difference than third in the group unhappy in the preliminary round.

Following the World Championship tournament, Eriksson moved to OGC Nice in France . In 1972 he ended his national team career after 49 internationals and 12 goals. In 1975 he moved to AS Cannes , where he ended his active career a year later.

Bandy

In parallel to his football career, Eriksson also played professional bandy for Djurgårdens IF and IK Sirius. In 1966 he became Swedish champion with IK Sirius. Later he focused exclusively on playing football.
