The Association Sportive de Cannes is a French football club from the city of Cannes on the Côte d'Azur in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southern France .

It was founded in 1902, the soccer department was added in 1909; from 1946 to 1951 the association was called AS Cannes-Grasse . The club colors are red and white. The league team usually plays at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin stadium , which has a capacity of 12,000 seats.

League affiliation

First class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ) played the club 1932-1943, 1944-1949, 1965/66, 1987-1992 and 1993-1998. In 2011, the team was relegated from the national to the fourth division (CFA) , in which they also competed in 2013/14 and for a long time even played promisingly for promotion to the third division. After the end of the season, AS, which had also reached the second round in the regional cup , was forced to relegate to the seventh division due to a deficit of 2.7 million euros. In 2019/20 she plays in the fifth class National 3.
