AS Cannes Volley-Ball is a French men's volleyball club from Cannes . He currently plays in the Pro A , the highest French league.

history

The French vice-record champion began his success story in the early 1980s. After winning three championship titles from 1981 to 1983, the club quickly celebrated major international successes. In 1983 you could reach the second place in the Champions League , losing the final only against the then series winner VK CSKA Moscow . As early as 1981, the first ever CEV Cup , the small European cup, was won - as the only French team to date. In the following years, however, it was not possible to continue the great successes of these three years for the time being. You had to be content with the 1986 championship title and the 1985 cup victory, which was introduced a year earlier.

At the beginning of the 1990s, AS Cannes found its way back to its old international strength. From 1990 to 1995 four more championship wins and two cup wins followed. Internationally they celebrated successes , especially in the European Cup Winners' Cup . In 1993 they only had to admit defeat in the final Mediolanum Milan , a year later they took third place. After these successes, there was a long untitled time. Paris UC started dominating French volleyball. Strangely enough, the only national title of the following ten years - the 1998 cup victory - was used for the club's greatest success on an international level. They were the first French team to triumph in the 1999 Cup Winners' Cup over the Italian club Alpitour Traco Cuneo in the final.

AC Cannes is currently one of the leading forces in French men's volleyball. In the 2005 season you could relegate the reigning Champions League winner Tours VB to second place in the championship.
