Lilium lophophorum ( Chinese  尖 被 百合 , Pinyin jiānbèi bǎihé ) is a species from the genus of lilies ( Lilium ) in the Asian section .

Lilium lophophorum is rare in culture and has not yet been used to breed hybrids , although its flower shape is unusual.

description

Lilium lophophorum reaches a height of 10 cm to 45 cm. The onions are small, round and reach a diameter of between 1.5 cm and 3.5 cm, they are loosely covered with white lanceolate scales. The stem is hard and straight. The leaves are variable, narrow to wide, lanceolate , between 5 cm and 12 cm long and between 0.3 and 2 cm wide. They are freely distributed over the stem, but often form clusters. The leaf margin is papilla .

The plant blooms from June to July usually with a single, rarely with two to three nodding flowers. The hermaphrodite flowers are threefold. The six identical bloom cladding sheets ( tepals ) converge and touch at the tips, they are between 4.5 cm and 5.7 cm long and between 0.9 and 1.6 cm wide. The basic color of the flowers is yellow, pale yellow or pale yellow-green, rarely pink. The species has undotted flowers, var. Linearifolium, however, distinct purple-red points. The inner petals have eyelash-like appendages on both sides of the nectaries. The stamens are converging. The seeds ripen in 2 cm to 3 cm large seed pods from August to September .

Lilium lophophorum is found in forests or on mountain meadows at altitudes between 2500 and 4500 m asl in the provinces of Sichuan , Xizang and Yunnan in the People's Republic of China .
