Samuel Tuia (born July 24, 1986 in Mata Utu , Wallis and Futuna ) is a French volleyball player .

Career

Tuia was discovered by a talent scout at the age of 16 in his homeland, the French overseas territory in the Pacific, and trained in France. From 2005 to 2008 he played at Rennes Volley 35. In 2008, the outside attacker made his debut in the French national team , with which he became vice European champion the following year . In the league he played for AS Cannes from 2008 to 2010 . He then moved to the Polish first division club AZS Olsztyn , before he went to Russia for two years in 2011, where he played for VK Kuzbass Kemerowo . Then Tuia returned to Poland and won the national championship with Skra Bełchatów in the 2013/14 season . With France he took part in the 2014 World Cup. In the following years he played in the Turkish league for the Istanbul clubs Galatasaray , Beşiktaş and BBSK . In 2018 he was hired by the German champion Berlin Recycling Volleys . In the 2018/19 season he reached the cup semi-finals with the team and won the German championship . On June 25, 2020 it was announced that his contract with Berlin Recycling Volleys had been extended until 2022.
