Julian Zenger (born August 26, 1997 in Wangen im Allgäu ) is a German national volleyball player .

Career

Zenger came to volleyball through his father in Muthmannshofen . He started his career at TSG Leutkirch . In 2013 he joined the Volley YoungStars, the youth team at VfB Friedrichshafen . He played with the YoungStars in the second division. In the summer of 2016, the Libero played his first international match with the senior national team against the Netherlands . The following season he played at VC Olympia Berlin . For the playoffs he was then part of the VfB Friedrichshafen squad. While Zenger was second libero in the first qualifying tournament for the 2018 World Cup , which Germany finally missed, he became a regular player in the second tournament and in the world league . At the 2017 European Championships in Poland , he and the DVV team reached the final against Russia and became vice European champion; it was the first ever EM medal for Germany. In 2017 he moved to the Bundesliga club United Volleys Frankfurt . In the 2017/18 season he reached the semifinals with the Frankfurters in the DVV Cup and in the Bundesliga playoffs . With the DVV selection he played in the Nations League in summer 2018 . In the 2018/19 season, Frankfurt and Zenger were eliminated in both competitions in the quarter-finals against SVG Lüneburg . In 2019, Zenger was signed by the German champion Berlin Recycling Volleys . With the national team he took part in the Nations League in 2019 and reached the quarter-finals at the European Championship .
