The coach has been the former German national player Stefan Hübner since 2014 . Malte Stolley works as an assistant trainer and scout. Bernd Schlesinger is the sports director. Doctor Thomas Buller, physiotherapist Nina Weber and fitness trainer André Moser take care of medical care. The team manager is Andreas Bahlburg.

The SVG Lüneburg was founded in summer 2005 through the merger of the men's volleyball teams of MTV Treubund Lüneburg and TSV Gellersen. In the following year, the women's, youth and hobby teams also joined the game community, and TuS Reppenstedt was added as a further club. The first men's team of the SVG took over the place of the men's gymnastics club, which in previous years had been promoted to the league as a league champion and, after the second team of the USC Braunschweig waived, qualified as runner-up for the Northwest Regionalliga. After two fourth places in the game years 2006 to 2008, the SVG team took first place in the regional league at the end of the 2008/09 season. As third in the promotion round, the team around captain Jens Möhring benefited from the license waiver of TSC Berlin and started the following season in the second Bundesliga North . In the premier season in this league, the club from Lüneburg was able to hold the class as eleventh in the table. In the following two years, the team around captain Lars Pickbrenner was able to improve: In the 2010/11 season it finished fourth and in the 2011/12 season under the coaching duo Schlesinger / Karohs it finished second in the final table. With head coach Sylvia Roll , the Lüneburgers were again runner-up in 2012/13.
The second men's team from Lüneburg took over the playing rights of TSV Gellersen, who had been promoted from the regional league to the upper league via the association league in the previous two years. After the interim relegation in 2008, the SVG II team became association league champions two years later and has been back in the Lower Saxony / Bremen league since the 2010/11 season. Other teams in the club's adult area are the third men's team and four women's teams, of which the best-placed serves in the association league.
