Ayam Brand is one of the oldest consumer brands in Asia. Ayam means "rooster" in Malay . The main product is traditionally " sardines in tomato sauce". The largest production site with over 1000 employees is Taiping (Malaysia) .

The red and yellow Ayam cans are one of the best-known food brands in Southeast Asia. Annual production is over 60 million cans. The main products are canned fish (sardines, mackerel, tuna), Asian ingredients (coconut, Asian sauces and pastes), fruits and vegetables, especially beans.

A consumer survey carried out by Synovate in 2007 found the Ayam brand among the top 200 consumer brands in Asia alongside brands such as Nissan , L'Oréal , Heinz and American Express . (Ayam Brand was 179th in 2007).

history

The French Alfred Clouet founded a company called Ayam in Singapore in 1892 , which was then part of British Malaya . The business initially focused on food distribution for members of the colonial powers and the construction industry. In 1954 the company was taken over by the Denis Frères . The name of the founder can still be found in some parts of the company and company name: A. Clouet & Co. (KL) Sdn. Bhd for Malaysia, Clouet Trading Pte. Ltd in Singapore or A. Clouet (Australia) Pty Ltd in Australia - New Zealand. The sole owner of the Ayam brand is now “Ayam SARL ”.

While sales were concentrated in Malaysia in the first half of the 20th century, international sales did not develop until the 1950s. Today the Ayam brand is a market leader in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
