Synovate was one of the largest ad hoc - Market Research Institute (currently in 4th place in terms of sales) in Germany and is among the top 10 in the industry.

In January 2003, the Synovate brand was launched by the British Aegis Group , under which from now on all of the market research institutes belonging to it merged. The 77 founding institutes at the time included: Asia Market Intelligence, Market Facts, Motoresearch, Pegram Walters, Research Fact, Sample Survey Ltd. and much more.

Synovate was acquired by Ipsos in October 2011 . This takeover creates the third largest global market research institute.

Synovate employs over 6,000 people worldwide and is represented in 130 offices in 62 countries. A special feature of Synovate is that there is no central headquarters from which the group is controlled.

The company has been active in Germany since 2001. In 2005 the market research department was bought by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants , Roland Berger Market Research and the Institute for Youth Research . This also results in the locations in Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Hamburg. Harald Hasselmann has been the managing director of the German branch (Synovate GmbH) since 2005.
