After six years in the second division north, the Netzhoppers rose to the Bundesliga in 2006 and managed to stay up. In the 2007/08 season they qualified eighth for the playoffs and lost the quarter-finals against eventual champions VfB Friedrichshafen . A year later they were only defeated in the semi-finals against Haching. In 2009/10 the Netzhoppers failed in the quarter-finals against evivo Düren . After six years of membership in the first division, the club's license application for playing rights in the 1st Bundesliga for the 2013/14 season was rejected by the DVL for economic reasons. In the 2013/14 season, the Netzhoppers started in the second Bundesliga. Without defeat, they managed to return to the top division.
