Sergei Jurjewitsch Grankin ( Russian Сергей Юрьевич Гранкин , English transcription: Sergey Yuryevich Grankin ; born January 21, 1985 in Kislovodsk ) is a Russian volleyball player .

Career

Grankin began his career at the age of seven. In 2001 he came to Neftjanik Yaroslavl . With the Russian juniors, the setter was European champion in 2004 and world champion in 2005. He then went to VK Lutsch Moscow for a year . On July 16, 2006, he made his debut in the senior team . Then he was signed by VK Dynamo Moscow . In the following year, Grankin came second five times. He was in the cup final with the club, which was also third in the Champions League , and took second place in the national championship before losing just as narrowly with the national team in the world league and the World Cup as in the final of the European championship in his own country . In 2008, Dynamo Moscow scored the national double with Grankin. The player took part in the Olympic tournament in Beijing and won the bronze medal with Russia. In 2010 his teams were defeated in the finals of the Russian Cup, the Champions League and the World League . A year later Dynamo was again champion and third in the Champions League . In 2012 the Muscovites won the CEV Cup . With the national team, Grankin won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in London . In January 2019, Grankin switched to Berlin Recycling Volleys . With the club he won the German championship.
