history
For the year 1166 a place called Mutwigishofen is mentioned, which is the first mention of Muthmannshofen. The noble free Bertholdus de Muthmannshofen appeared as a witness in 1169 in the entourage of the Counts of Veringen . Around 1200 the parish church was moved from the village to the high position of a castle stable of the former rulers of Muthmannshofen. According to the Liber Taxationis (income from churches and charities of the Diocese of Constance ) there were 16 apartments in the parish of Muthmannshofen in 1350. In 1503, the Kempten prince monastery set up three village courts in the Hohenthann reign that was taken over the previous year, including Muthmannshofen.
In 1710 the church of St. Mauritius was rebuilt. In 1711 the place was deserted . In 1890 the church tower was raised and the nave was extended from 1907 to 1913. In 1952 the interior of the church was restored.
In 1972 the previously independent municipality of Muthmannshofen joined the Altusried market as part of the regional reform .
