Krugzell is the second largest district of the Altusried market in the Bavarian-Swabian district of Oberallgäu .

location

The parish village is located in the Allgäu , surrounded by fields and meadows, about 5 km east of Altusried. The city of Kempten (Allgäu) is 8 km away. Between Krugzell and neighboring Dietmannsried , the Iller flows through to the north .

The following villages and living spaces belong to Krugzell: Albrechte, Burg, Depsried , Frohnhofen, Frühstetten, Gries, Hiltensberg, Isel, Lochhaus, Ölstauden, Reicharten, Riedlingen, Scheiben, Schwarzenbach, Schwebelhaus, Staig, Stockers, Thurn, Vocken, Wasserschwend, Wetzlo and Wolfen.

history

The first written mention of Krugzell was in 1275 as Crugescelle . According to the Liber Taxationis (income from churches and charities of the Diocese of Constance ) there were 30 apartments in 1353. In 1430, King Sigism granted Kempten Abbey the lower court of Krugzell. The previous church of today's parish church of St. Michael was built around 1500 . In 1525 there were 59 farmsteads in the place. In 1768 the baroque signpost was set up with Queen Hildegard . In 1844 the parish church was partially demolished and rebuilt. At the end of the Second World War , the Iller Bridge was destroyed by the German Wehrmacht .

As part of the regional reform , the former municipality of Krugzell and its districts joined the Altusried market in 1972. In 2004 the bypass of the state road St was opened in 2009. This had previously run through the place, which had led to a considerable burden on the residents.

coat of arms

The coat of arms of Krugzell shows the colors red and blue as a typical identification symbol for an area of the Princely Monastery of Kempten. A cornucopia with three ears of corn lies on this two-tone background .

economy

Due to the proximity to the A7 motorway , the largest industrial area in the market was formed west of Krugzell. Among other things, the Kösel printing company, founded in Kempten in 1593, settled there (no longer belongs to Kösel-Verlag ).

traffic

The A7 runs 2.5 km to the northeast, the Dietmannsried junction (AS 132) of which is easily accessible via the St2377 state road. The St2009 also leads past the village to Kempten or Altusried.

Sports

Robert Hartmann , referee of the Bundesliga, whistles for SV Krugzell.
