Bruno Bellone (born March 14, 1962 in Toulon ) is a former French football player .
The striker Bruno Bellone began his professional career in 1980 at AS Monaco and quickly developed into the club's top scorer. In 1981 he made his debut in the French national team and was appointed to the squad for the 1982 World Cup in Spain by national coach Michel Hidalgo . The 20-year-old was only featured in the third place match against Poland at this tournament , when Hidalgo did not use the team's stars after the disappointing semi-final. The game was lost 2: 3.
At the European Football Championship in France in 1984 , Bellone was part of the regular formation. Captain Michel Platini led the team to their first title in French football history and Bellone contributed the 2-0 winning goal in stoppage time in the final against Spain .
The reigning European champion then drove to Mexico with Bellone as one of the favorites for the 1986 World Cup , but could not prevail in the semifinals, as in 1982, against the German team , but won the bronze medal by defeating Belgium .
In 1987 Bruno Bellone moved to AS Cannes , and a year later to Montpellier La Paillade SC . In Montpellier in particular, he was rarely used due to numerous injuries and no longer played in the national team. In 1989 he returned to Cannes, but had to end his career in 1990 as a sports invalid. Bellone has played a total of 265 top division games and scored 63 goals, 195/47 for Monaco, 57/14 for Cannes and 13/2 for Montpellier.
For the French national team, he played a total of 34 international matches from October 1981 to February 1988, in which he scored 2 goals.
