Didier Six, also Dündar Siz (born August 21, 1954 in Lille ) is a former French football player and coach . He also has Turkish citizenship.
Club career
During his career he has worked at US Valenciennes (1972–1977, second half of 1986/87), RC Lens (1977/78), Olympique Marseille (1978–1980), Cercle Brugge (first half of 1980/81), Racing Strasbourg (second half of the season 1980/81, first round 1986/87), VfB Stuttgart (1981-1983), FC Mulhouse (1983/84), Aston Villa (1984/85), FC Metz (1985/86), Galatasaray Istanbul (1987/88) and VfB Leipzig (1991/92) played. Most recently he was active for Strasbourg FCSK 06 (1995 to 1996).
The dribbling winger scored 23 goals in 59 Bundesliga games for VfB Stuttgart. His highest placement in the 1st Bundesliga was a third place in 1983 and thus qualification for the UEFA Cup . Under the coach Helmut Benthaus , who followed Jürgen Sundermann , his not always efficient style of play (quote: "Six: sometimes everything, sometimes nothing") came under fire and, despite major protests from fans, resulted in his dismissal by then President Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder .
In Turkey he played under the name Dündar Siz.
National team
Didier Six was left winger for the French national team , including at the World Cup in 1978 and 1982 . His greatest success was winning the 1984 European Football Championship in his own country.
For the Equipe Tricolore , he played a total of 52 games between March 1976 and June 1984, scoring 13 goals. His last international match was the semi-final match against Portugal at the EM; Six was not used in the final against Spain (2-0). He also took on the legendary World Cup semi-final in 1982 against the Federal Republic of Germany in part, the France with 7: 8 n E.. Lost - and Six was one of two unfortunate French, who their penalty Missed.
Trainer
Didier Six coached Racing Strasbourg from 1986 , the Strasbourg FCSK 06 from 1992 to 1993, JS Audun-le-Tiche from 2004 to 2005 and the Togo national team from 2011 to 2014 . From January to May 2015 he was in charge of the Mauritius national team . He has been the coach of the Guinea national soccer team since September 2019 .
