Jean-François Domergue (born June 23, 1957 in Bordeaux ) is a former French football player and coach .

Player career

Domergue began his career in 1969 with his hometown club Girondins Bordeaux . In 1975 the defender joined the Girondins first team. After five years at home, he went to Lille OSC in 1980 . In 1982 the path went through France to Olympique Lyon , where he only stayed one season. The Wandervogel moved to Toulouse FC in 1983 . After three years in Toulouse , he went to Olympique Marseille in 1986 to defend there. There Domergue, as in the other stations before, could not win a title at club level. In the 1988/89 season he let his career at SM Caen end.

Internationally, Domergue played nine times for France and scored two goals. The defender achieved these two goals at the 1984 European Football Championship in the semi-finals against Portugal , where he shot France into the final. Les Bleus ultimately won this European championship.

After the active career

After his active career, Domergue became administrative director and later football coach . From 1990 to 1992 he was the administrative director of SM Caen; he later held the same position from 1992 to 2000 at Paris SG. In 2000 he took over his first coaching position at AC Le Havre , where he was a coach until 2004. From 2004 to 2007 he was the coach of HSC Montpellier , after which he took over the club's own football academy until 2011.
