The Stade Pierre de Coubertin is a football stadium in Cannes , Alpes-Maritimes department in south-eastern France . Currently it is mostly used for football matches and is home to AS Cannes . It has a capacity of 16,000 spectators (limited to approx. 10,000 seats for safety reasons) and is named after the French sports official Baron Pierre de Coubertin .

Originally designed as a multifunctional venue, the stadium was initially used for rugby and athletics . From the mid-1970s, the athletes from the Athlétic Club de Cannes and the footballers from AS Cannes shared the stadium. After both clubs celebrated more successes and the cooperation became more difficult, the athletes left the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in 1986 and moved into a new home. Afterwards the stadium was converted into a pure football stadium without a track for athletes.

17,401 spectators attended the game between AS Cannes and Olympique Marseille on July 31, 1993, which is still the stadium and club record.

In 2002 ( Olympique Lyon against FC Lorient 5: 1) and 2004 ( Paris Saint-Germain against Olympique Lyon 6: 7 on penalties) the game for the Trophée des Champions , the French Supercup between champions and Cup winners , instead.
