Sandvikens IF is a Swedish sports club from the city of Sandviken . The club is divided into two sections: Sandvikens IF - bowling and Sandvikens IF - Fotboll, i.e. a bowling and a football section.
ice Hockey
The no longer existing ice hockey department of the club took part in the 1940s several times in the Swedish championship , which was then still held in cup mode . In the 1944/45 season , the team also entered the then top Swedish division, Division 1 .
The soccer team
The Sandvikens IF football team can look back on successful times in which the club was also able to hold its own in the upper divisions. The first promotion to the first Swedish football league (Allsvenskan) succeeded in 1929 and the first season there ended with ninth place. In the following year, 1930, however, they already descended again. The next promotion to the top division succeeded in 1932 and Sandvikens IF was able to assert itself in the league for 12 years before being relegated again in 1944. In 1953 they were promoted again, but they immediately returned to the second division. The last period that Sandvikens IF played in Allsvenskan lasted 6 years; from 1956 to 1961. Today the club plays in the third-class Division 1 Norra .
