Torns Idrottsförening is a Swedish football club from Stångby , a suburb of Lund .
history
Torns IF was founded on March 30, 1965. The club played mostly in lower leagues.
In the 2010 season Torns IF took first place in the sixth-class Division 4 Skåne Sydvästra and rose to Division 3. In the following year, the march through to Division 2 succeeded . With the exception of the 2015 season, when the team finished eighth, Torns IF took third place three times and fourth place once. At the end of the 2017 season, Torns IF secured the championship in Division 2 Östra Götaland and was promoted to third-class Division 1 Södra .
Since 1983 the association has owned and operated the Tornhallen , a large sports hall with a cafeteria. There the club organizes the Stångbymässan (Eng. Stångby Fair), a craft market, on the weekends from October to February .
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, Torns IF published a book about the history of the association.
In addition to football, the club also operates a tennis and fitness division.
Famous personalities
Former two-time Swedish international Oskar Rönningberg and FIFA referee Andreas Ekberg started playing football at Torns IF.
