IF Brommapojkarna is a Swedish sports club in the Stockholm district of Bromma . With a total of 260 teams playing in regular league operations and around 4,000 active players, the club is the largest football club in Europe. In the 2020 season, after two promotions and two relegations in a row, the first team will play in Division 1 , the third-highest Swedish division.
history
The club was founded in 1942 and at that time played sports such as soccer, table tennis, bandy , athletics and even arm wrestling. Today the club is active in the areas of innebandy and football. In 2006, the football team reached the Superettan third in the table in the relegation games for promotion against the twelfth of the Allsvenskan, BK Häcken . Both games were won, with which IF Brommapojkarna rose to the Allsvenskan for the first time in the club's history.
In the 2007 season , BP fought in vain against direct relegation to the Superettan. Despite a 1-0 win in the last game against the gold candidate and capital city rivals Djurgårdens IF after the last day of the match, BP finished last in the table due to a worse goal difference of six goals in a direct comparison with the southern Swedish club Trelleborgs FF . Thus, the club occupied the only relegation place from the 2008 season thanks to an expansion of the Allsvenskan by two teams to 16 clubs. In the following second division season, the team took third place and thus reached the relegation games to Allsvenskan, where a 0-0 home draw and a 1-1 away draw at Ljungskile SK due to the away goals rule made it possible to return directly to the Swedish House of Lords. In 2010 the club rose as table-16. back to the Superettan . In 2012 he was promoted to the Allsvenskan again .
In particular, from 2014 to 2020, BP recorded as a yo-yo club from when the team after relegation from the top division 1 Södra was passed in the third class division, but in the following two seasons after their ascents as a table first under coach novice Olof Mellberg 's return succeeded in the Allsvenskan. However, after losing relegation at the end of 2018, the team was relegated and could not avoid relegation from Superettan , the second Swedish league, in the following year 2019 . Thus, the IF Brommapojkarna will compete in Division 1 Norra in 2020.
