The FC Linköping City is a Swedish football club from Linköping , which currently in the third division, the Division 1 plays.

history

The club was founded in 2013 through the merger of the clubs FK Linköping and FC Syrianska with the aim of bringing football in Linköping to a higher level. He took the place of FK Linköping in the Swedish football league system in the fifth division Division 3 Nordöstra Götaland.

After the first season, the club rose to the fourth division Division 2 . The promotion to the third class Division 1 succeeded in 2017.

FC Linköping City is part of the Östergötlands Fotbollförbund .

Predecessor clubs

The FK Linköping was founded in 2009 and replaced the Linköping FF , which emerged in 1981 from the merger of the clubs IF Saab and BK Derby .

FC Syrianska Linköping's roots go back to 1981, when the club was founded under that name. In the course of 1994 the club merged with the Babylon Association from the Linköpinger district Lambohov to form FC S Babylon . After another merger with the Inter team to Linköpings Internationella FK (Inter) , the club returned to its original name FC Syrianska in 2003.

Stadion

The home games were initially played in the Folkungavallen in Linköping . In autumn 2013 the Linköping Arena was moved into as a new home. The venue has a capacity of 7300 people.
